But she failed to get admission in class-V as she was unable to give school admission fees. Her parent was also not interested to give her education. The economic condition of her family is also poor. She used to work in a grocery shop with her father to help her family economically. In this situation one day our social worker of that village came to know about her. He talked with her family and motivated them. Krishna is now reading in class-VII at our school at Gopalchalk. She is very happy now and is performing well at her studies. But the problem is that we can provide her education at our school up to class-VIII and her parents are also not willing to continue her education. There does not exist the educational environment at her house. It is necessary to keep her in hostel to continue her education. Krishna will be able to stand in the life if she gets the opportunity to complete graduation at least. So it is necessary to help her financially so that she can able to have nutritious food along with the study materials.

Bharati-another form of child labor

The village Haturia is a backward one having no facilities of modern life. Most of the people are very poor. They have to work hard to earn their livelihood. So about the education or awareness level. There is no astonishment that children of this village will go out side to work as CDW (Child Domestic Worker). This we see in the case of Bharati, a 14-year-old girl child. Her father is an old man who is unable to work any more. Mother is a daily labor but due to gender discrimination and age is not getting proper daily wages. So being unable to run the family of five the parent sent the elder one Bharati to Medinipur, Kolkata for work as CDW some two years ago. A neighbour of them had made this connection. Bharati had to work from dusk to dawn to complete all the household jobs. She rarely got any time to take rest at the afternoon. But she didn’t complain as she was getting Rs. 500/- month, which helped her family economically. She used to come back once in six months. But things became after she went from home five months ago. The two sons of the employer started to use her as the medium of satisfying their perverted sex desire repeatedly when ever possible. She was so shocked and afraid that she could not tell that to any body. This continues till she came back. Her shocking experience has not been over since then her mother wants to send her back there, as she is the source of income. At this time one of our staff came to know this incident and motivated her mother not to send back their any more. Bharati is now a student of our BC centre at Analberia where she is learning attentively. She wants vocational training by which she will be able to run her family in future. But that horrible trauma is still vivid in her mind. Our staff there, is trying level best to get rid her off from that traumatized incident.

Her father is cultivator by name. The amount of land he possesses is negligible. Besides this he also works as daily labor. Being unable to run the family of five the parent sent the elder daughter Ashalata to one of the flats of CIT Road Scheme, Baguihati, Kolkata for work as CDW some one and half years ago. A relative of them had made this connection. Ashalata had to work from dusk to dawn to complete all the household jobs. She rarely got any time to take rest at the afternoon. But she didn’t complain as she was getting Rs. 500/- month, which helped her family economically. She used to come back once in six months. But she was unable to bear the beatings she got by the hands of the employer. That lady uses to beat her off & on at slightest fault s severely. At this time one of our staff came to know this incident when she came home this time and motivated her parent not to send back her any more. Ashalata is now a student of our BC centre at Analberia where she is learning attentively. She wants to learn VT by which she will be able to run her family in future. In this period, the Puspa SHG of KJKS raised an agenda in their group meeting and took resolution to curb out the problem. They attacked the place of gambling one day and destroyed the materials.
